This week hasn't been super productive because Charlie had to go out of town for a last minute business trip. I didn't want to make any big decisions without him here, so painting was put on pause for this week. Here is what I was able to get accomplished:
I ordered the sofa. I had originally planned on this CB2 sleeper sofa in the Savile Birch fabric, but I didn't love the sample in person and it was dry clean only, so I was having a hard time pulling the trigger. During one of my late night Pinterest searches I came across this sleeper sofa* from Urban Outfitters. Charlie liked the style a lot better, and for the price, I'm OK if this only lasts a couple of years.
I received our new vintage rug. I love the soft colors, and they'll work nicely with the new wall color. I was nervous about making this purchase because Turkish Etsy sellers can't accept Paypal or use Etsy checkout, but this seller communicated very well and I received my rug in about a week!
It was advertised as washed (something you always want to look for when buying a vintage rug), but it still came with a weird musty smell from being packaged tightly when it was shipped. I cleaned it using hot water and our carpet cleaner, and then put it outside in the sun for two days to completely dry and air out. It still had a slight smell, so I did some research and found that people swore by putting baking soda on vintage rugs to get the smell out. I'm happy to say that it worked like a charm!
I also received my Farrow and Ball sample of Powder Blue, but it showed up a super green, almost sage color which is not at all what I'm going for. I stopped by Benjamin Moore and picked up a few more – Blue Bonnet, Sweet Dreams, and Come Sail Away.
I'm waiting for Charlie to get back, but I think Blue Bonnet (middle color) is going to be the winner. It's just the right mix of blue and green and doesn't come off as baby blue or mint green which is what I'm trying to avoid.
Don't forget to stop by to check out the other week three rooms, because I'm almost positive they made more progress than I did!
