project: guest bath remodel reveal

I can't believe I'm finally saying this, but our bathroom remodel that we started nearly one year ago is finished! This has been such a long road for us, but we're so happy with it now.

We've had it about 90% complete for a few months, but we were so tired of working on it that we took a break and left the details unfinished. We finally got around to the finishing touches and I can now share the reveal with you!

The plumbing fixtures were updated to a more modern one handle valve and added in a chrome shower basket for shower storage.

The old texture was awful, so we paid someone to skim coat the walls (which I later redid because they didn’t do a very good job), and it has totally changed the look of the bathroom! We also changed out the door and lever, and had new outlets and switches put in.

So much work, but so worth it in the end.

project update: kitchen remodel

I last updated you on our kitchen back in June when it was still a hot mess. We are mostly finished with the first round of kitchen renovations, so I figured it was time to share some pictures!

After two months of waiting, our pantry door finally arrived. You can see how we updated and organized our pantry in this post.

I still need to paint underneath the cabinets where we removed some fluorescent lighting. I've been avoiding this because it is caked in grout from the tile we removed!

Our first DIY plumbing project was installing this faucet. I'm happy to report it was a success!

Still on our to-do list:

- update flooring

- new windows

- paint underside of cabinets where we removed lighting

- remove stick-on toe kick, replace with wood, paint to match cabinets

- remove blinds above sink window and replace with roman shade

- hanging plants in window above sink

- baseboards in pantry

- built-in island when we replace flooring

- create breakfast nook (post on this coming soon!)

And just in case you need a reminder... this is where we started with this project!

I'll be back later this week talking about the specific updates we made and how we did them on a fairly small budget!

christmas home tour

Even though I used almost exactly the same Christmas decorations, this year's Christmas home tour feels totally different. If you missed it last year, check it out in this post. This year felt a bit weird. Just as we were finally getting the house clean and cleared out from the renovation, I dragged out our stuff and filled it back up again. I normally decorate everything at once, but this year I did it slowly because I felt a bit overwhelmed bringing even more stuff into the house. If you've lived in a construction zone, then you know exactly what I mean! Now that we're almost finished, you get to see a sneak peek of all the rooms I'll be sharing in the new year!

We found our Home Depot giving away all of their tree trimmings, so I scooped some up to put into vases around the house. This has been my favorite decoration this year.

I spy Tobias.

We got a fun new tree that has both white lights and big multicolored bulbs. Since I was trying to keep it simple this year, I only put on about half of our ornaments. Also, after many years of searching, I finally found a tree topper I like!

Seriously, I'm loving these tree trimmings. They also make everything smell like Christmas, something we've never had with a fake tree!
